Blitzkrieg! The aptly named Lightning War. Nazi leader Adolf Hitler and his generals knew that Germany could ill-afford another static war of attrition like that fought in the trenches of the Great War and so together they devised a bold and aggressive new style of warfare; one that emphasised speed and close coordination of each of the branches of the German Wehrmacht. However, Hitler who wanted to maintain his authority over much of the campaigns in Czechoslovakia, Poland, Scandinavia and western Europe fo...

Many of history’s greatest armoured fighting vehicles emerged during the Second World War. But while we may admire the classic lines of the M4 Sh...

The humble fish and chips. It’s still not entirely clear how or even when this quaint but filling little meal became the official dish of the people of the British Isles but what is known is that during the first half of the 20th century it had become as quintessentially British as cricket and the Royal family. One of the most common types of fish to be included in the meal was cod from the Nor...

Looking back through history, it’s often difficult to see passed events that have so shaped our modern world. The story of Japan in World War II for example has often left those in the west with an impression that prior to 1945, Japan was always an enemy of freedom, when in fact while we associate Imperial Japan as Hitler’s ally, just twenty years earlier, Japan fought against the Kaiser and th...

so I notice two flaws which I first thought was propaganda but now think it was just an oversight and a mistake...early in the video it claimed that the German soldiers, upon the initial stages of the invastion would both murdering people AND raping women, but it's my understanding that there's not one documenting case of a even one German soldier in the totality of the whole war raping any of their enemies' women, and it's commonly known that aside from the death camps, in terms of actually fighting the war, they fought it legally. Secondly, near the end, it was mentioned that Paulus was sent to WEST Germany by the Russians, but obviously that's not true, he was sent to EAST Germany, and he is known to have garnered a very high position of leadership in the East German regime as well.

You may ask how was a scooner a good pirate ship. Why would a big ship surrender to them? First. You would not lose your whole cargo. Thry just couldnt carry... Unless they were a fleet like black beards. Second they were faster then you. And handled better. They could open you up at the waterline and you couldnt hit them. A captian loses part of his cargo. Insurance pays. A captain loses his ship. And may never captain again. And thats if you made it back to land. Very rarely did pirate crew slaughter surrendered crew. It was much better for everyone. To give up the goods. And let the crew live. Then crews were more likey to surrender in the future. Taking of ships didnt happen often. Most the time. A crew revolted and took a ship. There were times that. Pirates took thier loot. And the crew of the ship. Took the ship. Following the pirates to sell the loot the pirates didnt take. And no reports. But you can bet that. After pirates took the loot. A captian would follow pirates and sell the goods. Sharing with the crew. Claiming pirates took it all. If the crew is paid. Who is going to say differently? Also Im sure that some Captain had arrangements to drop some over the sides as a tax or toll. At port. Just claim it was taken by force. Also. Many of those receiving goods at port were just as crooked. They were paid for thier lost merchandise. And paid smugglers a discounted price for thier goods.

Sooner and sloops were the prime chose for a single crew. But like Black beard. He had multiple crew and ships. Queen anne revenge being his flag ship. I imagine he sent the sloops in to began. Then came the big ships. To clean them out and as heavy guns if need be. The prize would be in battle with the sloop While the big ships " caught up" Sloop served multiple purpose in this. It engaged slowing down the prize. If the prize gave up it goods easy. Then they just waited for the big ships to arive. If they fought. It slowed them down. And the big ships arrived. Best course of action when you seen Black beards flag. Was drop all sail. And wait. This was the same for many other known pirates. But. Any ship could be a pirate ship. Just sloops and schooners were the best. Also some think they took everything. No they took what they could and often the most in demand. People also think they were after gold. Most prises were sugar, spice, or other things we would think of as poor choose. But like nutmeg. I promise if a pirate crew had the option of 5000 lbs of gold or 5000 lbs of nutmeg. The nutmeg would have been taken. It was worth far more.

41:53 the Japanese had the exact same chance to win a War with the United States before this 5 minutes as they did afterwards. ZERO, the Japanese had ZERO % chance of winning the War. Setting the conclusion of Atomic Weapons aside Japan didn't have the material, manufacturing, or trained personnel to Win the War. Their only action was what they did. Occupy, and wait for the American's to show up and kill every last one of their personnel there. Continue withdrawals because of not enough fuel, planes, ships, equipment, and men. Notice I didn't mention food because the Military Leadership left the task of supplying food up to the troops to gather and store. Eventually, I surmise with the help of the Soviets Allied troops would bypass the outer islands and destroy Tokyo like the Soviets did to Berlin. A lot of Allied troops would have died but no where the number of straving Japanese troops and civilians trying to resist with just a stick and a scream.

A fine documentary, but I must make one note: to designate the Canadian beach Juno, what should have been used was known as the Red Ensign, as the Maple Leaf design did not come into existence until 1965. My father flew on a Lancaster Pathfinder, and that morning, on their way back to England after a bombing mission to stop German reinforcements from getting to the beachheads, as they flew back across the English Channel, there were so many ships heading for France, according to the navigator, the instruments indicated that the plane was over dry land!! Just try to imagine what a sight that must have been!

Both the so called bodies of hitler and eva had cyanide in their mouths but NOT in their lungs, same with the so called bodies of the göbbles family, which means that they were already dead when the cyanide was put in their mouths, and couldn't have died from cyanide poisoning. Which means that its highly likely that the bodies found wrre lookalikes, which also means that those people escaped from Berlin probably to Spain first and then on to Argentina or chilli.. Mark Felton has made videos about this, although his theory is that they used body doubles for the Nazis in order to bury them in a secret place where die-hard Nazis could go to pay homage, i think that is very unlikely, and that they more than likely escaped Germany altogether. Historians dont like talking about this, it makes feel uneasy at the thought of having to rewrite history.
